In this Sun Flow offering, we root ourselves in the knowledge of our intellectual ancestors–most of whom are Black, Indigenous, Brown, queer or gender non-conforming (Audre Lorde, bell hooks, Gloria Anzaldua, James Baldwin, Marsha P. Johnson)–and connect their words to yogic teachings (8 limbs, chakras). The offering engages mindful movement so you can feel invigorated and connected to our ancestors and world. This time is led by Subini Annamma.

Come for the healing, stay for the community.

More about Subini Annamma:

Subini Annamma is a writer, professor, mama, and warrior. Her pronouns are she/her/hers and she seeks to make her class accessible to all through offering multiple options for asana (posture) and reclaiming yoga from its westernized whitewashed versions. She has been practicing for 2 decades and after becoming certified in 2018, her goal is to bring the teachings of yoga, including the theory and history behind the postures, into classes so students can benefit from this knowledge on and off the mat. When she is not teaching yoga, she works with and centers multiply-marginalized Black, Indigenous, and Youth of Color in public schools and youth prisons. She has written a book, several academic articles, and public offerings about how we criminalize youth in schools and how we can create more liberatory education.
